SHELBY - Jane Clapp Patterson, 75, died Nov. 16, 2014, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Howard Russell and Lillyan Fowler Clapp. A private family graveside service will be held at Piney Grove Cemetery at First Presbyterian Church of Swannanoa. Peeler, Lonnie* - Bessemer City  
BESSEMER CITY - Lonnie Casto Peeler, 69, of Hephzibah Church Road, died Nov. 18, 2014, at Kings Mountain Hospice House. He was born Nov. 1, 1945, in Burlington County, New Jersey to the late Lonnie E. Peeler Sr. and Mary E. Peeler. He was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church. Lonnie was a veteran of the United States Air Force, retired from the Air National Guard and served in the Army National Guard. He was retired from FMC Lithium Corporation. Lonnie was a former member of Tryonota Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Joan Adams Peeler; and brother, Lonnie E. Peeler Jr. Survivors include his daughters, Talina Short (Dean) of Kings Mountain, Dena Blalock (Reggie) of Kings Mountain, Dana Hamrick (Mickey Thomas) of Shelby, and Deandra Morgan (Robbie) of Bessemer City; brother, Joe Peeler (Cheryl) of Boiling Springs; sisters, Cindy Homesley (Steve) of Cherryville, Ei-leen Martin of Hickory, and Mary Elizabeth Stanford of Aynor, SC; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday at Anthony Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Bean and Pastor Timmy Whitaker officiating. Burial will be at Shady Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at 1919 Hephzibah Church Road and from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church. Powers, Linda* - Gastonia  
GASTONIA - Linda Ann Benedict Powers, 71, passed away at her residence on Nov. 16, 2014. She was born in Spartanburg, S.C., daughter of the late William and Mildred Woods Benedict. Mrs. Powers was a former employee of the Personnel Department of Parkdale Mills, formerly was a private Care Giver, was a former Manager of Village Square Apartments in Gastonia. Mrs. Powers is a member of South Marietta Baptist Church. Mrs. Powers is survived by her daughter, Wendy Helton and husband Kevin of Edmond, Oklahoma; one granddaughter, Sarah Helton of Edmond, Oklahoma; Charles Thayer, companion. A celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Thursday in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia with the Rev. Leroy Mobley officiating. The family will receive friends with a reception immediately after the celebration of life service. Burial will be private and at a later date. Mrs. Powers was preceded in death by her parents; son, William "Billy" Barry Long Jr.; sister, Marlene Benedict. Memorials may be made to Tri-County Animal Rescue, P.O. YORK – Mildred "Granny" Nix Pruitt, 87, of 202 Herndon Ave went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 22, 2014, from the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House in Rock Hill. A celebration of life service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at Blessed Hope Baptist with Rev. Larry Nunn, Rev. Mike Lowery, and Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.
