Van Furr, Ronald*  
STANLEY - Ronald Van Furr, 74, died Dec. 16, 2014. He was born in Stanly County, NC; son of the late Pratt and Mary Harley Furr, and was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Furr and a brother Bruce Furr. He served in the U.S. Army, was a Jan. 1962 graduate of NC State University, was employed with J.P. Stevens in Stanley for 39 years, serving as Quality Control Inspector and Plant Superintendent, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Stanley where he had been active with the scouting pro-gram. Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years Jeanette Wagoner Furr, two sons Mark Furr and wife Alice of Matthews, NC, Brian Furr and wife Jocelyn of Charlotte, a daughter Ronda Furr of Stanley, a brother Benny Furr and wife Tempie of Cary, NC, and four grandchildren Mary Reeves Furr, Virginia Furr, Davis Furr and Joshua Furr. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Noel Sweezy will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Gardens. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Building Fund or Food Pantry, 217 North Main St, Stanley NC 28164. Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mount Holly is serving the family. Vaughn, Jack* - Ocala  
OCALA, Fla. - Jack Kenneth Vaughn, 85, formerly of Cramerton, N.C. and Lake Wylie, S.C., beloved husband for 66 years of Hazel G. Smith Vaughn, went to be with the Lord and Savior on Dec. 7, 2014. He was born in Royston, Ga., to Emmanuel and Nannie Brown Vaughn on June 30, 1929. His family moved to Cramerton when he was a young boy. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served our country during the Korean War. Kenneth worked as a truck driver for Akers Motor Lines and Burlington Industries. After retirement, he worked at Jefferson Pilot Broadcasting in Charlotte moving television and camera equipment to national sporting events, which he loved. He was an active member and Deacon at Goshen Free Will Baptist Church in Belmont, NC until he moved to Florida. Kenneth enjoyed traveling, watching westerns, football, and NASCAR, and being with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; daughters, Ann (Mike) Summerlin of Lake Wylie, S.C. and Virginia (Herb) Carnes of Ocala, Fla.; grandchildren, Derek (Cindy) Summerlin of Key West, Fla., Gina (Chris) Saftner of Lake Wylie, S.C., LT Jesse (Erica) Summerlin, USCG of York, Maine, Chad (Vanessa) Carnes of Silver Springs, Fla., and Shane (Tami) Carnes of Ocala, Fla.; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, whom he loved so very much. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held noon Saturday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with visitation prior to the service from 10 a.m. until noon. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
