GASTONIA - Marlan LaBroan Land, 58, passed away Aug. 28, 2015, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. A Gastonia native, he was born Dec. 15, 1956, son of the late Melvin Land Sr. and Mary Warren Land. A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Baptist Church, 2437 Propst St., Gastonia. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Lee, Bertha - Shelby  
SHELBY - On Aug. 25, 2015, Bertha Neill Lee arrived at the portals of heaven where by the grace of God she has been restored in a heavenly body and will forever reside in eternal peace and love. She passed away at Wendover Hospice House following a short illness. Bertha was born on Feb. 23, 1927, in Gaston County to the late Will and Essie Neill. Her celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Aug. 30, 2015, in the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends in the Ladies Parlor at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery. Link, Bernice* - Gastonia  
GASTONIA - Bernice Bowman Link, 90, entered into her Heavenly home. She was born in Caldwell County on July 20, 1925, to the late Leroy and Claudia Teague Bowman In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Hugh Williams Link Bernice was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed greatly! She loved spending time with her family and waited on each of them with love. Bernice was always known for her hardwork-ing ethic and was the owner and operator of Gaston Food Products Company for 64 years for Tom's Snack Foods. Many admired her great sense of humor. She loved to cook, fish and garden and she en-joyed working in her azalea garden. Survivors include her son, Reggie Link and wife Valerie of Belmont; grandchildren, Ryan and Jarrett; sisters, Rachel Poe and Aileen Quigley; several nieces and nephews. Visitation for family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Withers and Whisenant Funeral Home, 2916 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Gaston Memorial Park, 1200 South New Hope Road, Gas-tonia, NC in Mausoleum B with the Rev. Larry Liverett officiating. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors, 1990 Fordham Drive, Suite 100, Fayetteville, NC 28304.
