SHELBY - Anna Catherine Jones Causby, 92, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015, at Peak Resources of Cherryville. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Laddie Chivous and Mary Jane Green Jones. A funeral will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday at Double Springs Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one and a half hours prior to the service at the church and other times at her daughter, Mary's home, 2615 Pebble Creek Drive, Shelby, NC 28152. Cauthen, W. Edward*  
BELMONT - W. Edward Cauthen, 81, of 3157 South Point Road, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Jones and Gladys Bowers Cauthen. Mr. Cauthen was a graduate of Mount Holly High School and retired from American Chicle a division of Warner Lambert & Pfizer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Holly and a member of Mount Holly Masonic Lodge 544 where he was a 50 year Past Master. He was a life endowed member of the Oasis Temple of the Shrine and a member of the Scottish and York Rite Bodies. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cauthen was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Waters Cauthen; and two brothers, Ernest and George Cauthen. He is survived by three children, Ed Cauthen, Jr. and wife Dorothy of Huntersville, Bob Cauthen and wife Abby of Belmont, and Tim Cauthen and wife Vicki of Mount Holly; a brother, Tom Cauthen of Mount Holly; six grandchildren, Amanda, Sara, Cori, John, Ally and Nicole; and special friends, Kevin and Tracy Walls and Gaston County Wildlife Club families. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cauthen will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly with Rev. Dr. Robert Winecoff officiat-ing. Burial will follow, with Masonic Rites, at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Clevenger, Gaston* - Gastonia  
Gaston Clevenger, 74 passed away at CaroMont Hospital on Friday, Aug. 28, 2015. He was born Sept. 13, 1940, in Gastonia and was the son of the late Hobart and Lovancy Clevenger. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Clevenger; son, Brent Clevenger and girlfriend Amanda; sister-in-law, Brenda Conner. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Gaston will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service, with the Rev. Buck Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Lakeview Baptist Church, 143 Church St., McAdenville, NC 28101. BELMONT - Lorene Sams Cline, 86, passed away Aug. 27, 2015. She was a native of Gaston County, daughter of the late Arthur Oscar and Cora Lee Burgess Sams. Cloninger, Janice* - Gastonia  
GASTONIA - Janice Etheleen Campbell Cloninger, 80, went to her heavenly home on Aug. 27. She was born April 20, 1935, at 38 Mutual Mill Village, to the late Ethel Mae Myers Campbell and Glenn J. Campbell. She graduated from Myrtle School as Valedictorian and from Gastonia High School Class of 1953. She graduated in 1957 from Furman University. Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 39 1/2 years, Jerry L. Cloninger Sr. He served faithfully with her at church with all the family throughout their married life. Janice loved her church family, the B.V.'s and Martha Goebel Club for the visually impaired. Janice began playing piano at church at eight years old and continued to her 80th year. She has played for countless weddings and funerals over the years as well as other celebrations. Her greatest delight and love are her family. They include Rev. Dr. Jerry L. Cloninger Jr. and wife DeAnna with daughters, Emma, Mackenzie, and Sarah; Jody Cloninger and wife Jeannie with children Olivia and Levi; and daughters, Jeanie and Janie Cloninger. Thanks to Jeanie and Janie for all their care for 16 years. Other survivors include sisters, Artricia Gordon of Bridgwater, Conn., Betty McDavid and husband Bruce of Gastonia, Katherine Leming and husband Larry of Gastonia; special sisters, Sarah Hendricks and Myrna Packard; brothers, Billy Joe Campbell and Jim Hayden, Keith Campbell and wife Wanda, Dr. Richard Campbell of Austin, Texas; sisters-in-law, Jan Campbell, Joy and husband Dewey Jenkins; brother-in-law, Leon Cloninger and wife Faye. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. Mrs. Cloninger will lie in state at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia two hours prior to the service, which will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, in the Founders Chapel, McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia. GASTONIA and ISLAND FALLS, Maine - Roger Kevin Courson, 49, of Island Falls, Maine, passed away suddenly at home on Aug. 8, 2015. He was born Oct. 8, 1965, in Waycross, Ga., the son of Ellie and Lois (Smith) Courson. Roger was a native of Gastonia, received his Associates Degree in Paralegal from the College of Lake County in Illinois, and moved to Maine 6 years ago.
