Emmons, Lyla* - Gastonia  
GASTONIA - Lyla Grace Davidson Emmons, 94, passed away June 2, 2016. She was born June 24, 1921 in Summit Hill, Pa., daughter of Rev. Norman Lambut Davidson and Bertha Isabel Campbell. Lyla served in the Norfolk Naval Hospital as a surgical nurse until the end of WWII. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd Emmons whom she married on March 29, 1947. She was a seamstress, taught sewing lessons and ran a fabric store. She was active in her church and took in many parishioners who needed help after an illness. She was head of the ladies aid society and taught Sunday school. She also worked as a volunteer at blood mobiles around the central NY area for many years. Lyla is survived by three of her siblings, Naomi Search, Vida McKay and Sterling Davidson, her daughter Lois and Michael Thorne, and her son Louis Emmons, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial celebrating her life will be held at the New Covenant Church on 631 Efird St. in Gastonia on June 25 at 5 p.m.

Farmer, Dorothy* - Clover  
CLOVER, S.C. - Dorothy Colleen Farmer, 88, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, at Pruitt Health in Rock Hill, S.C. She was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Chatham County, and was the daughter of the late Dewey and Mazie Whitt. Dorothy was loved by her family. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Tommy Farmer and wife Cynthia; daughter, Jennie Crisp; brothers, Donald Whitt, C.D. Whitt; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Farmer. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Baptist Church, 1534 Rolling Meadow Lane, Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Junior Morris. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Gaston Memorial Park. BESSEMER CITY - Kathryn "Kathy" Louise Watts Farmer, 72, passed away on June 23, 2016, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas. She was born March 26, 1944, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Herman Sloan Watts and Mae Bumgarner Watts. A funeral service will be held 5 p.m., June 25, 2016, at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., officiated by Pastor Dickie Spargo. The family will receive friends 4 to 4:45 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Mrs. Farmer is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Joel Robert Farmer; sons, Steven Fender and wife, Leigh Ann, Joey Farmer; daughter, Katie Farmer; sister, Susan Hamrick and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Morgan and Matt Fender; nieces and nephews. Fayssoux, Margie* - Gastonia  
GASTONIA - Margie "Doonie" Fayssoux, 89, passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born June 26, 1926, in Gaston County, daughter of the late Early and Viola Lineberger Atkins. Margie was a kind, gentle and humble woman. She was a caregiver to many family members through the years, and when she became weak, son Peter and caregivers; Lindsay, Linda, Mazie, and Lydia from Visiting Angels and Hospice of Gaston County took the role as caregivers. Survivors include, sons, Paxton Fayssoux, and Peter Fayssoux both of Gastonia, grandchildren, Zak (Danielle) Fayssoux of Boston, MA, Emily Fayssoux of NY, and Leah Fayssoux of Washington, D.C., former daughter-in-law Melissa Fayssoux, a special niece Martie Seagle of Denver, N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews. Margie is preceded in death by her husband, John Paxton Fayssoux, brothers, Jim and Bobby Atkins, sisters, Ann A. Burch, and Phyllis A. Moore. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016 in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors, Gastonia, with Rev. David Christy and Rev. Dr. Jim Westmoreland officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gaston Hospice, P.O. Fite, Lloyd* - Kings Mountain  
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Lloyd "Eddie" Fite, 87, went to be with the Lord, Monday June 20, 2016 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland county, he was the son of the late Richard Earl and Jessie (Boots) Elizabeth Bridges Fite. He loved going to the beach and playing in the ocean, at times even neck deep. He loved with his whole heart especially when it came to his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lydia Starnes Fite and his previous wife, Georgia Moore Fite; one brother, Don Fite and one sister, Earline Matheson. He is survived by two sons, Kenneth Fite, Scott Fite and wife Megan all of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Brenda Short and husband Harold "Pokey" of Kings Mountain, Valerie Jenkins and husband Bill of Gaffney, Sandy Staley and husband David of Lowell; two brothers, Charles Fite and wife Brenda, David Fite and wife Dianne all of Kings Mountain; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; his cat, Molly; special friends Helen and David Crawford and family. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Eastside Baptist Church of Kings Mountain. The family will receive friends Wednesday night at Clay Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Revs. Ron Caulder and Gary Teague II will officiate.
