Alberto Costales

Alberto Manuel Costales, 90, died Sunday, July 14, 2013. He was the son of the late José Costales and Matilde Garcia Costales.

Born in Gijon, Asturias, Manuel was a dedicated father and sweet grandfather who will be missed.

He was a textile engineer who held five US patents. He was a published author who also worked as a transla-tor. In his youth he performed arias in Havana, Cuba on the radio; his passion for reading, opera, and music re-mained a joy throughout his life.

Survivors include son Luis Costales and wife Liz, of Charlotte, daughters Sandy Bucy of Clyde, NC, and Eliza-beth Costales and husband Tyrus Faust of Virginia Beach, VA, daughter-in-law Jacklun Costales of Belmont, brothers Raphael Costales and Luis
Costales, and sister Suzanna Costales.

He had ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Caridad Lopez Costales and son
Manuel Costales Jr. No formal services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to Gas-ton Hospice are suggested.
