GASTONIA - Barbara Jonell Rogers, 78, of 2710 Mary Ave., Gastonia, passed away peacefully Oct. 4, 2012, at Peak Resources.
She was a native of Gaston County, born Sept. 6, 1934, to the late Colen and Mary James Rogers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 36 years, Bobby A. Rogers; and a grandson, Jason Dye.
Jonell was a member of Loray Baptist Church and had worked at Firestone for more than 34 years.
Survivors include her sons, Bobby A. Rogers Jr. of Florida, Jonathan Shane Rogers and wife, Susan, of Gastonia; daughter, Barbara Mayes and husband, Wayne, of Fort Mill, S.C.; grandchildren, Allen Rogers, Chris, Ryan and Pagan Dye; great-grandchildren, Abby, Michael and Jack Dye; brothers, Steve and Michael Rogers; and sisters, Libby Frye and Ruby Summey.
Celebration of life service will be 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home with the Rev. Hubert Stanley and the Rev. Kent Cranford officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. prior to the service.
Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.
