GASTONIA - Beulah Mosteller Mott, 91, passed away Nov. 25, 2012, at Peak Resources, Gastonia.
She was born March 15, 1921, in Edgefield, SC., daughter of the late Willie J. and Ruby Howe Mosteller.
"Bootie" grew up in Gastonia and worked in textiles before joining the original Southern Bell Telephone Company as an operator.
She was promoted and transferred to Florida where she lived several years. She met and married A. Ralsey Mott Sr., from New
York State and they lived in Florida and New York for many years. Upon his death, she returned to Gastonia where she has participated actively in her community until her health declined. One of her proudest achievements was obtaining her GED High School Diploma at the age of 83. She was a loyal and active member of Myers Memorial Meth-odist Church, former member of the Chancel Choir and Builder's Sunday School Class. She was a Volunteer at Gaston Memorial Hospital in the Gift Shop and various positions for over twenty years. She was a member of the William Chronicle Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW
and the Colonial Dames of America.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Myers Memorial Methodist Church, Gastonia, officiated by Pastor Clyde Penry.
The family will receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary prior to the service on Thursday.
Inurnment will be private at a later date.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy M. Williamson of Columbia, SC; brother, John W. Mosteller and his wife, Mary of Orlando, FL; half-sister, Ruth M. Waller and her husband, Jerry of Villa Rica, GA; several nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces; numerous cousins from the Howe and Mosteller families; longtime and loyal friend, Mable Johnson of Gastonia.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, A. Ralsey Mott Sr.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to "The Little Red Schoolhouse Fund" at Myers Memorial Methodist Church, 301 S. New Hope Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
