CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Blanche Waldrup Blackwood, 79, of 111 Harrilson Road, formerly of E. Academy St., passed away Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Carolina Care Center of Cherryville.
Mrs. Blackwood was born in Anson County, a daughter of the late Charlie Waldrup and Olivia Lear Gore.
Blanche was a member of First Baptist Church, Cherryville. She worked with her late husband, Harold Blackwood, at Blackwood's Drive In, Cherryville, and also worked in the textile industry.
Survivors include her two sons, Mike Blackwood, of Cherryville; Scott Blackwood and wife Amber of Kings Mountain; and daughter Pat Blackwood Bell of Cherryville and five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold B. "Dag" Blackwood in 2002.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville with Dr. Vince Hefner officiating.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Stamey-Cherryville Funeral Home.
Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery.
