GASTONIA - Carol Salmons Falls, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Feb. 23, 2013, at Caromont Health.
Born in Winston-Salem and raised in Elkin, she was the daughter of Catherine Whitener Salmons of Elkin and the late Hugh Glenn Salmons.
Mrs. Falls was a graduate of the Gaston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at numerous hospitals and offices throughout her career in North and South Carolina. She was a wonderful caring nurse who kept in touch and continued to help many of her patients after her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning and spending time with her family and many friends.
In addition to her beloved father, Mrs. Falls was preceded in death by her beloved in-laws, Vance and Pearl Falls.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Ray Falls, Sr.; children and their spouses, Kenny and Paige Falls, and Amy and Brian Summey, all of Gastonia; two grandchildren and one on the way, Catherine Summey and Evan Falls; sisters, Cathy Fergen of Raleigh and Margaret Salmons of Elkin; dearest friend, Debbie Morris; dearest cousin, Marie Whitener; many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning at noon until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors with the fu-neral service to follow at 2 p.m. in Founders Chapel.
Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Cole, Chad Rumney, John Yarber, Shane Stinnett, Chad Stinnett and Mike Hill.
