BESSEMER CITY - Carolyn Brown Bumgardner, 74, a resident of 109 Central Ave., Bessemer City, died April 19, 2013, at Brian Health Care Center in Gastonia.
She was born in Marietta, Ga., daughter of the late Horace W. and Lucille Rampley Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 15 years, the Rev. William P. Bumgardner; a son, Mark D. Absher; and a grandson, Jonathan Holland. She was a former employee of Carolina Brush Co., Gastonia, and a member of First Baptist Church, Bessemer City.
Survivors include a son, William P. Bumgardner Jr., Bessemer City; daughter, Denise B. Holland and husband, Bob, Gastonia; stepdaughters; Sandra Wilson, Kings Mountain, Wanda Moore and husband, Dean, Kings Mountain, Beverly Scruggs and husband, Howard, Shelby; sisters, Barbara Moss, Grover, Gloria Horton, Surfside, S.C.; granddaughter, Jennifer Wright and husband, Gary; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Bessemer City with the Rev. Tom Ravan, officiating.
A visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday April 22, 2013, at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, and at other times at the home of the daughter, Denise Holland, 804 Forestbrook Drive, Gastonia.
Interment will be in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
