DALLAS - Charles Ellis Allen, 82, died Feb. 25, 2008, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late William Ellis and Ardeania Fowler Allen.
Mr. Allen was a retired owner and operator of a sawmill company in Dallas and a member of Plainview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Frye Allen; two sons, James Eddie Allen and wife Ann of Kings Mountain and Sidney L. Allen and wife Cathy of Gastonia; five daughters, Linda McClure and husband Jay of Asheville, Jean Rhom and husband Frank of Elizabethton, Tenn., Peggy Allen of Gastonia, Sherry Philbeck and husband Steve of Meridian, Miss. and Debra Hunsucker and husband Mitch of Gainesville, Ga.; two brothers, Billy Allen and wife Margaret of Cornelia, Ga. and Gary Allen and wife Clara of Stanley; three sisters, Dorothy Crisp and husband Roy of Franklin, N.C., Nell Garrison and husband Wesley of Canton, Ga. and Betty Jones and husband Donald of Griffin, Ga.; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Charles D. Allen and Jimmy D. Allen.
A funeral service with the Rev. Fain Farmer officiating will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
