Charles Kendrick Harrison, 88, passed away on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. A native of Gaston County, he was a son of the late Robert P. and Clara Ware Harrison.
Charles was a lifetime and faithful member of Union Presbyterian Church where he had served as deacon. He graduated from Belmont High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War
. He enjoyed working for many years as a farmer with Harrison Dairy and later owned and operated his own textile repair business.
He was a kind and caring husband and father and will be missed dearly by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Doris Teague Harrison of the home; daughter and son, in law Katherine and Jim Morris of Lake Wylie; sister, Harriett H. Armstrong of Belmont; brother, Donald Harrison of Gastonia; granddaughter, Ever Elizabeth Morris; and loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Isabel Harrison; two brothers, Dick Harrison and R.P. Harrison, Jr. and infant brother, Robert F. Harrison.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Union Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James Holeman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m. prior to the service in the church rotunda. Burial with military honors by the Gaston County Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery.
