Charles LeCroy Jr.

GASTONIA - Charles Robert LeCroy Jr., 89, passed away July 25, 2013, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Attala, Ala., son of the late Charles R. Sr. and Carrie Butler LeCroy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joe LeCroy.

Charles served in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After discharge from active duty he continued to serve in the Navy Reserves. He retired from Globe Mfg. where he worked in electrical maintenance. He was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church in Dallas and a member of Gastonia Masonic Lodge #369. Charles enjoyed sketching and painting, carving and woodwork. He loved to collect antiques, especially clocks and became an expert on cuckoo clock repair.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Oma Buchanan LeCroy; sons, Jim LeCroy of Wilmington and Jeff LeCroy of Lansing; eight grand-children and ten great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

A celebration of life service will follow 3 p.m. in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with Pastor Michael Comer officiating.

A family inurnment will be held at a later date.
