DALLAS - Darlene Hollingsworth Addis, 62, entered into the arms of her loving savior, Jesus Christ on Feb. 24, 2014, at Brian Center, after an extended illness, surrounded by her family and close friends.
Darlene was born in Buncombe County, to the late Lloyd Hollingsworth and Edith Morris Goodson on Oct. 17, 1951. Darlene was married for 35 years to the love of her life, the late, Jimmy Addis.
Darlene had a passion for serving the Lord through her work with her church, Bessemer City Church of God, and through the Godly example she set for her family and friends. Darlene devoutly sought the will of her Lord, Jesus Christ in her life and strived to share the Lord with those with whom she came into contact.
Darlene retired from the US Department of Agriculture, Rural Development after 27 years of service.
Darlene enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memories her five children Lynda Hammett (Shane) of Kings Mountain, Michelle Radford of Dallas, Michael Addis (Jennifer) of Bessemer City, Joey Addis (Melanie) of Bessemer City and Amy Bryant (Robbie) of Dallas. Darlenes' legacy is continued by the ten greatest blessings of her life, her grandchildren, all of whom affectionately call her Grammy, Jordan and Natalie Hammett, Jonathan and Hannah Radford, Kailey and Rylee Addis, Kendall and Cooper Addis, and Addison and Ava Bryant. She is also survived by her four siblings, Lloyd Hollingsworth, Jr. (Debbie) of Ocoee, Fl., Teresa Murphy (Scotty) of Williamstown, SC, Velma Miller of Walhalla, SC, and Loretta Hollingsworth of Dallas, NC. She is survived by her friend and sister-in-law, Joyce Crawford of Cullowhee, NC and a special friend, George Weiss of Orlando, Fl. Darlene also wishes to thank her best friends, Crystal Biddix and Glenda Carpenter for a lifetime of friendship and adventure. Darlene and her family sincerely thank Dr. Al Hudson for his exemplary care of Darlene over the years and the clinical staff of Carolina's Medical Center, Ad-vanced Home Care, and the Brian Center,Gastoina.
Visitation will be held 6 - 8 pm Tuesday at Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd., Gastonia, NC.
Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday at the Bessemer City Church of God.
Interment will follow in Westview Gardens Cemetery, Bessemer City.
