Don Sarvis

BESSEMER CITY - Don R. Sarvis, 75, passed away Feb. 18, 2014, at the Robin Johnson Hospice House, Dallas.

He was born July 5, 1938, in Gaston County, son of the late Lloyd Sarvis and Louise Tate Sarvis.

Don was a member of First Baptist Church, Bessemer City, NC He served in the US Army. He worked for over 30 years in law enforcement starting with the Bessemer City Police, the County Police, and as a Sheriff's deputy. He was active in his community.
He was a former member of the Lions Club. He was a member of the American Legion for 24 years, and he was a member of the Whetstone Masonic Lodge #515 for 46 years.

Don was a kind, generous man and a loyal friend. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved classic cars, beach music, good food and laughter. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A service to celebrate Don's life will be 3 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, 107 Washington Ave., Bessemer City, officiated by the Revs. Tom Ravan and Dick Whitener.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Service, West Chapel, 216 Archie Whitesides Rd., Gastonia.

Inurnment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery, with burial honors by Gaston County Sheriff's Office and Masonic burial rites.

Don is survived by: special companion, Claudia Ledford; sons, Richard Sloan Sarvis and Sidney Sarvis; grandchildren, Clint Brody Biddix; special people, Barbara Joy and Tammie Biddix.
