Dorothy Elizabeth Beaty Denton(1922 - 2013)

GASTONIA - Dorothy Elizabeth Beaty Denton, 91, formerly of 2126 Kendrick Road in Gastonia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 16, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Denton was born in Gaston County on Jan. 25, 1922, and was the daughter of the late J. Lawrence Beaty and Bessie Beaty Miller.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Denton was known to all as a selfless, kind, and caring Christian lady. She was a lifelong member of Sandy Plains Baptist church, where she taught children's Sunday School for 63 years, was a member of the Women's Missionary Union and a nursery worker.

Mrs. Denton's life was dedicated to God and to her family. She enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Denton is survived by her nine sons and daughters-in-law: Clyde and Linda Denton, Bobby and Louise Denton, David and Kim Denton, Billy Joe and Patti Denton, Jimmy and Becky Denton, Freddie and Nancy Denton, Ronnie and Fonda Denton, Sammy and Sharon Denton, and Danny and Julie Denton; and by honorary son, Jamie Norman.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Blair Denton, Dana Murphy, Derek Denton, Scott Denton, Christy McInnis, Greg Moten, Kim Lafreniere, Allen Goodson, Joey Denton, Shana Conard, Bryan Denton, Karen Stafford, Laurie Beckham, Mickey Denton, Gretchen Pirko, Lisa Montgomery, Crystal Denton and Michael Denton; and by 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Clyde Denton Sr.; as well as her sister, Janie Beaty Bryson; twin brother, Dorie Beaty; and brothers, Fred Beaty, Frank Beaty, James Beaty, Joe Beaty and Neal Miller.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Sandy Plains Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Richard Brown, A.A. Bailey, Max Pendleton, Joey Denton, and Steve Hensley. Interment will be in the Sandy Plains Baptist Church cemetery.

Blair Denton, Scott Denton, Derek Denton, Bryan Denton, Mickey Denton, and Michael Denton will act as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jamie Norman, Allen Goodson and Greg Moten.
