Edna Aileen (Auten) Bell


GASTONIA - Edna Aileen Auten Bell, 84, of Gastonia, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 4, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

She was a native of Mecklenburg County, born July 10, 1928, to the late Luther C. and Catherine Hart Auten.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 40 years, Blake Junior Bell; sisters, Rosalee Hoffman and Annie Mae Woods; brother, Clyde Auten.

Mrs. Bell had retired from textiles. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she was in the church circle and had received the Mission recognition award.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne Bell and wife, Gail, Travis Bell and wife, Janice, all of Gastonia; grandchildren, Melissa Bell, Deanna Bell, Darren Bell and Deborah Reed, Clinton Bell and wife, Allison; great-grandchildren, Blake, Daniel and Natalie Bell; brothers, Carl Auten and wife, Sue, and Walter Auten and wife, Thelma, all of Gastonia; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kim Higgins officiating.

A celebration of life service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kim Higgins officiating.

Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Four Seasons section with the releasing of the doves.
