Homer Morris

GASTONIA - Homer Jackson Morris, 85, of 1231 Spencer Mountain Road, passed away Feb. 27, 2014.

He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Jessie and Shuley Helms Morris.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Klouse Morris; a daughter, Terrie Watty; son, Kenny Morris; grandson, John Watty; granddaughter, Nicole Wright and two sons-in-law, Duke Watty and Randy Wright. He was a retired minister. He enjoyed reading was known as the "peanut man" in Cherokee, N.C.

He is survived by two daughters, Dianne Yandle and husband John of Charlotte and Mary Jane Harris of Gastonia; one son, Jeff Morris of Pikesville, Tenn.; two sisters, Ovella Crump and husband Lawrence of Charlotte and Thelma Smith of Mount Holly; 12 grandchildren and nu-merous great-grandchildren.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Morris will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mount Holly with Pastor John Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment with military honors will take place Wednesday March 5, 2014 at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
