James Brooks

MOUNT HOLLY - James Lee Brooks, 66, of 221 Jenkins Ave., passed away Aug. 20, 2013.

He was born in Catawba County, son of the late Lee Roy and Katherine Hubbard Brooks.

He was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Dixon. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Sharon Davis Brooks; two sons, Travis Brooks of Johnson City, Tenn. and Joshua Brooks and wife Hillary of Mount Holly; two daughters, Cynthia Stewart and husband Michael of Stanley and Ashley Brooks of Mount Holly; one brother, Billy Whisnant and wife Jennifer of Catawba; three sisters, Margaret Whisnant of Conover, Irene Whitener of Clemmons, and Reba Cantera of Helena, Ala.; two grand-children, Jamie Stewart of Stanley and Zoe Brooks of Mount Holly; brother-in-law, Jed Davis and wife Pillar of Cooper City, Fla.; sister-in-law, Ann Davis of Charlotte; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Brooks will be held noon Saturday at Second Baptist Church in Mount Holly with the Rev. Bruce Bradley officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church.
