James Hadden III

GASTONIA - James Russell Hadden III, 73, passed away Nov. 30, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.

He was a strong man and fought to the end.

He was born in Gaffney, S.C., son of the late James Hadden II and Lula Thompson.

He served in the United States Army for two years. He worked the majority of his life in textiles as a fixer and a supervisor. James was an avid racer car driver and a huge race fan. He was well liked and respected by all who were blessed to have had him as a part of their life.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Hadden Ryall and husband Jon of Bessemer City; sons, James Michael "Bo" Hadden of Cherryville, Tony Ran-dall Hadden of Mitchell County, Gary Russell Hadden of Taylorsville; two sisters and five brothers, all of Gaffney; grandchildren, Joshua and Tristan Ry-all, Becky and Deanne Hadden, Gary Russell Hadden II, Megan and Destiny Hadden; great-grandchildren, Ian Corvin.

He was preceded in death by our mother and wife of twenty five years, Rachel Underdown Hadden; brother, Buddy Ray Hadden.

The family will receive friends and family 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the home of Teresa Hadden Ryall, 1204 Fallsway Court, Bessemer City.
