James Sims Jr.

MOUNT HOLLY - James Cecil "Jay" Sims Jr., 63, died Jan. 23, 2013, at CMC – Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.

He was born in North Belmont, son of the late James Cecil Sims Sr., and Elsie Jones Sims, and was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jones.

He was employed with Belmont Textile Machinery Co.

Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Norma Spivey Sims; two sisters Brenda Cagle and husband Larry of Alexis, Pat Loftin and husband Gerald of Gastonia; eight nieces and nephews, a special Aunt Helen Allman of Mount Holly; brother-in-law, George Spivey and wife Kenda of Lincolnton, and sister in law Teresa Spivey of Lincolnton.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Robbie Moore officiating.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
