Jean (Quinn) Clippard(1936-2012)

ALEXIS - Jean Quinn Clippard died peacefully surrounded by her family Feb. 17, 2012, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born Jan. 29, 1936, to George Robert Quinn and Pearl Barber Quinn in Gastonia.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Kerry W. Clippard Sr. and her five children and their spouses, K. Wayne Clippard Jr.; Steve and Sheila Clippard; Karen C. and Hal Helton; Linda C. and David Walker; Allison C. and Carter Cobb.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, the Rev. David Clippard and wife Kristen, Alan Clippard, Matthew Clippard, Heather C. Stroupe, Brandon Helton, Kristen H. Taylor and husband Matthew, Quin and Kerry Walker, Katie and Clara Cobb; two step-grandchildren, Scott and Keith Spoerlein; three great-grandchildren, and two stepgreat-grandchildren. She is also survived by four loving sisters, Lois Weathers, Emma Lee Lineberger, Patricia Davis and Martha Dillard; one brother, Clayton Quinn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents as well as her daughter-in-law, Becky Clippard.

Jean was a devout Christian and faithful member of Alexis Baptist Church, serving many years as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, church hostess, and in many other roles in the church life. She faithfully served in the Gideons Ladies Auxiliary in Lincolnton. Jean loved singing and sang with the Sweet Adelines for many years. Her most important role was as a dedicated and loving wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to offer special thanks to her caregivers, Sonja Wilson and Renee Clippard, Hospice of Gaston County and the dedicated nursing staff at Gaston Memorial Hospital, 5 South.

A funeral service conducted by the Revs. Sandy Marks and David Clippard will be 11 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 21, 2012, at Alexis Baptist Church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from 6 – 9 p.m. Monday.
