Jeannette (Harper) Holscher

GASTONIA - Jeannette Harper Holscher, 90, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 2, 2013.

Born in Rocky Mount, she was the daughter of the late Percy Norman Harper and Josephine Crawley Harper.

Mrs. Holscher received her formal education in the Rocky Mount schools, graduating from Rocky Mount High Schoo,l where she was a talented actress and member of the Drama Club and Speech Choir. She attended Mars Hill College and graduated from the Rocky Mount School of Commerce. A long-standing member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mrs. Holscher was president of the Lutheran Church Women, church circle leader, Sunday school teacher for 14 years, vice president of the church council, member of the Lingle Bible Class as well as serving on various other committees within the church.

Mrs. Holscher was active within the community, where she was a member and past president of the Sans Souci Book Club, member and past president of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club, member of the Thursday Bridge Club, member of the Tender Loving Care Luncheon Club, the Schiele Museum and Stowe Botanical Garden. Most of all, Mrs. Holscher was a homemaker and loving matriarch who took great pride in her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Holscher was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Norman Harper.

Mrs. Holscher is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Franz F. Holscher Sr.; sons and daughters-in-law, Franz F. "Rocky" Holscher Jr. and Donna Holscher of Hickory, and Frederick N. Holscher and Pat Holscher of Washington, N.C.; grandchildren and spouses, Ragan and Brian Daigle of Raleigh, Erin and Rich Linden of Charleston, S.C., Franz F. "Dutch" III and Lee Ellen Holscher of Columbia, S.C., Paul S. and Ingrid Holscher of Raleigh, Harper and Hutch Hutchens of Fayetteville, and Franz Frederick and Emma Holscher of Washington, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Chandler Daigle of Raleigh, Saunders Linden of Charleston, S.C., Joseph T. Holscher of Raleigh, Foster Hutchens and Hilton Hutchens, both of Fayetteville, Mary Emma Holscher and Frederick Holscher, both of Washington, N.C.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 in the parlor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with a memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Braxton East will officiate. A private service of committal will occur at Pineview Cemetery in Rocky Mount at a later date.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, 805 S. York St., Gastonia, NC 28052.
