KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Joanna Farrer Kanipe, 97, a native of Beckley, W.Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 29, 2012, in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Joanna was born on May 5, 1915, daughter of the late Annie and Joseph Farrer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Kanipe.
Joanna was a long-time member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she served 25 years as Sunday school teacher. She was the Women's Mission Di-rector and served in many other capacities in the church. She retired from Burlington Industries as a lab technician.
Survivors include her son, Ben Kanipe and wife, Lily, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren of Kalamazoo, Mich., sister, Alberta Kincaid, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia, followed by a funeral service at noon in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
Entombment will be at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum.
