GASTONIA - Katherine Lorraine Lancaster, 83, a resident of Abingdon Place Assisted Living, went to be with Jesus Dec. 30, 2012.
Katherine was born in Rutherford County, to the late Benny and Gladys Barnes.
She lived in Polk County until she moved to Abingdon Place in 2008. She worked many years in textile management in Gaston, Rutherford and Polk counties. She was an active member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Zeno Lancaster and her sisters, Frances Gibbons, Maxine Groves and Laura Rhyne.
Survivors include her daughters, Linda and husband Grady Hoyle of Belmont, Wanda and husband Mike Starnes of Gastonia, Pam and husband Rodney Bumgardner of Boone, and her son Zeno Lancaster III of Lake Wylie.
She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Hilda and Harold Crawford of Charlotte, Frank and Maureen Barnes of Alabama, and Helen Clements of Belmont; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at the home of her granddaughter Jill, 204 Michelle Lane, Mount Holly, and also from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 prior to the service at Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
The service to remember Katherine will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan.1, 2013, at Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
