Laura Snipes

GASTONIA - Laura Packett Snipes, 91, passed away peacefully on Jan. 31, 2013, at Park Ridge Hospital in Hendersonville.

Born in Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Ora Packett.

Mrs. Snipes retired from the textile industry and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She was an avid reader who loved flowers and quilting as well as visiting with family and friends.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Snipes was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Snipes; son-in-law, Blair Wilson; brothers, Willie Packett, Shufford Packett and Riley Packett.

Mrs. Snipes is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Wilson of Gastonia, Louise and Charles Buchanan of Gastonia and Freida and Bill Rhinehart of Canton; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Packett of Belmont; grandchildren, Scott Wilson, Kay Lemonds, Chuck Buchanan, Lisa Sellars and Steve Rhinehart; great-grandchildren, Kristen Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Garrett Buchanan, Cole Buchanan, Will Sellars, Bailey Sellars, McKinley Rhinehart, Michael Ford and Matthew Ford; numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning 2 p.m. Sunday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the funeral ser-vice to follow at 3 p.m. in Founders Chapel.

Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 1326 East Cedar Avenue, Gastonia, NC 28054.
