BELMONT - Louise Elmore Howe, 93, passed away peacefully on Jan., 6, 2013, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
Louise was born in Gaston County on Jan. 17, 1919, daughter of the late Holland O. and Ida Ellington Elmore.
Louise graduated Valedictorian of Belmont High School Class of 1935 and then graduated from Sacred Heart Business College.
She enjoyed working for many years in the offices of Lineberger Textile Mills and was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church. She enjoyed camping and going on cruises.
She is survived by her daughter Becky Howe of Mt. Holly and boyfriend Jim Hewins of Stanley, granddaughter Elizabeth R. "Randi" Cashion of Char-lotte, sister, Nell E. Campbell of Charlotte, brother James Elmore of Atlanta, son-in-law Gilbert S. Cashion of Charlotte, numerous nieces and nephews and special friend Darlene Dunn.
In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband Lucius "Luke" Grady Howe, daughter Lucia Howe Cashion, brother Bill Elmore, sisters Mary E. Parnell, Barbara E. Stowe, Ella Mae Elmore.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethesda United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Rick Cloninger and William R. Frye officiat-ing.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
A special acknowledgement and "thank you" is extended to the entire 4th Floor nursing staff, especially Todd Bridges, for their compassionate and caring support shown to Louise and her family.
