Marcelo Banda

STANLEY - Marcelo Garcia Banda, 97, of Old Mt. Holly Road, died April 11, 2013, at Stanley Living Center.

He was born Jan. 16, 1916, to the late Julio and Antonia Garcia Banda in Uvalde County, Texas

Marcelo is survived by his children, Marsha Banda of Nashville, Tenn., Dolores Baucom and husband Craig of Bessemer City, Mary Soto and husband, Larry of Bakersfield, Calif., Josephina Alejandro and husband Tony of Sabinal, Texas; son, Jesus Banda and wife, Diane of Sabinal, Texas; brother-in-law, Donald Eslinger and wife, Jeanette of Sun City, Calif.; sister-in-law, Lucille Conner of Bessemer City; grandson, Paul Rolen and wife Tabatha, Matthew Rolen of Sevierville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Ashley Rolen and fiancé, Neil Howard and their son, Brayden Tho-mas Howard of Nashville, Tenn., Travis Rolen of Sevierville, Tenn.; 12 other grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Andrea Banda, and second wife, Eva Banda, sons, Juan and Jose Banda and daughter,
Gloria Banda.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday at Revival Tabernacle in Stanley with the Rev. Robert Gittens officiating.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery in Mt. Holly.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
