Murline Hord

STANLEY – Murline Green Hord, 79, of 720 Murphy St., died Saturday, May 4, 2013.
She was born in Swain County, daughter of the late Silas Richard Samuel Green and Nora Kirkland Green Jolly.
She was wife of the late Marvin T. Hord and was preceded in death by five siblings, Troy Green, Hilton Green, Louise Scott, Jospehine Parker and Cora Pressley.
She is survived by eight children, Marvin Terry Hord of Blacksburg, S.C., Darl Gene Hord and wife Darlene of Stanley, Barbara Hord Woody and husband Jerry of Stanley, Rebecca Hord Prater and husband David of Gastonia, Melva Sue Costner and husband Earl of Mount Holly, Rachel Hord Green of the home, Janice Hord Otten and husband Regnal of Mount Holly, Thomas Alexander Hord and wife Joan of McAdenville; two brothers, Oscar Green and wife Mary of Bessemer City, Richard Green and wife Rhea of Alabama; and over 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hord will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Woodlawn Chapel of Woodlawn Funeral Home, Mount Holly with Reverend Milton Dwayne Woody, Reverend John Mayberry, and Pastor Eric Chaney officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
