O. Lee Gregory

BESSEMER CITY - The Rev. O. Lee Gregory, 89, passed away September 22, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center, Lincolnton.
He was born Nov. 6, 1923, in Wilkes County, N.C., son of the late Rufus Gaston and Pearl Messick Gregory.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain officiated by Dr. Chip Sloan and the Revs. Steve Gregory and Stanley Dixon. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Stained Glass Room in the church. Interment will be at Mt. Beulah Church Cemetery, Bessemer City.
Rev. Gregory was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He was a former Pastor serving each of the following churches for a 7-8 year term: Bat Cave Baptist Church, Bat Cave, N.C.; Kellum Baptist Church, Jacksonville, N.C.; Pisgah Baptist Church, Smithfield, N.C.; Southern Baptist Church, Rutherfordton, N.C.; Silver Creek Baptist, Mill Springs, N.C.
He was a Director of Missions at Polk Baptist Association for nine years and a WWII Sgt. in the U.S. Army under the Inspector General MacArthur.
He is survived by his son, Steve Gregory and wife Sandy; daughter, Sharon Dixon, and husband Stanley; grandchildren, Susan Bradberry and husband Pat, Jennifer Beer and husband V.J., Andy Gregory and wife Joanie, Joy Baker and husband Adam; great grandchildren, Allie Redman, Savanah Beer, Caleb Barnes, Chloe Gregory, and Casey Beer.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Melba Parnell Gregory; 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
