Sylvia Wooten

MOUNT HOLLY - Sylvia Kirby Wooten, 69, of 104 Belton Ave., died Jan. 2, 2013, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Gaston County, daughter of the late Fred and Grace Wilkie Kirby.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Seth, Basil and Jimmy Kirby, and three sisters, Dorothy Orren, Juanita Sipes, and Becky Wentz.

She retired from Southern Manufacturing in Charlotte and was a member of Tuckaseege Baptist Church in Mt Holly.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years Dean Wooten; a son, Paul Wooten Jr. and wife Connie of Mount Holly; two daughters, Robyn Shipes of Mount Holly, Michelle Darden and husband Jon-Paul of Cramerton; five grandchildren, Dale and Daniel Shipes, Anna Wooten, Nathan and Nicholas Darden, and a sister Cedith Norwood of Mount Holly.

The funeral service conducted by the Revs. Jason Marlowe, Mack Pressley, and Larry Arrowood will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at Tuckaseege Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Belmont.
