GASTONIA - Verda Wiggins Honeycutt, 97, passed away peacefully at Gaston Memorial Hospital on Friday, Nov. 30.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Miles Van Buren Wiggins and Emma Pannell Wiggins.
Mrs. Honeycutt was retired from Homelite. She was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia and most recently a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gastonia.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Honeycutt was preceded in death by her husband, Worth D. Honeycutt; son, Dr. Wallace B. Honeycutt; brothers, Vinson Wiggins, Vaughn Wiggins, George Wiggins and Miles V. Wiggins Jr.; sister, Amy Dalrymple Harder.
Mrs. Honeycutt is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Beth Kirksey of Bowling Green, S.C.; grandchildren and spouses, Ryan Kirksey of Alexandria, Minn., Stephany and Tom Templeton of Charlotte, Whit Honeycutt of Statesville, Kristin and Randy Shields, and Matt and Elizabeth Honeycutt, all of Winston-Salem; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Nell Wiggins Bowman of Gastonia.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation beginning at noon Monday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with the funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in Founders Chapel. Pastor Josh Glandon and the Rev. Greg Ballard will officiate. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
