Arlene Hollister

BELMONT - Arlene Elizabeth Hollister, 74, of Mercy Place, died July 22, 2013, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

She was born March 21, 1939 in Chicago, IL, a daughter of the late Charles Lester and Alice Colette Green Hollister.

Arlene was an employee of the City of Chicago before moving to Belmont. She was an active volunteer in the community and a member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church. She also enjoyed being a member of the "Young At Heart" group and being active at Mercy Place. She never met a stranger and loved life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Survivors of Ms. Hollister include her children, Janet and Mike Atherton of Mount Holly, NC; Robert and Maria Probstfield of Raeford, NC; John and Tanya Probstfield of Mt. Vernon, WA; Chuck Probstfield of Carson City, NV; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Chuck Hollister, and by her sisters, Alice Ulreich, Geri Conrad, and Vir-ginia Blair.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church with Father Frank Cancro as celebrant.

Interment will be private for the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church, Building Fund, 503 N. Main St., Belmont, NC 28012 or to Mercy Place, 6531 Wilkinson Blvd., Belmont, NC 28012.
