Wayne Sosebee Obituary

BESSEMER CITY - Wayne Rabun Sosebee, 74, died July 1, 2011, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Born in Gastonia, he was the son of the late Rabun Prince Sosebee and Lucile Myers Sosebee.

Mr. Sosebee retired as a traffic engineer with the City of Gastonia after 31 years of service. He, along with his wife Jean, started Sosebee Pavement Markings which is now owned and operated by his son, Todd. Wayne was a member of Parkwood Baptist Church and was well known as "Twinkles the Clown" and "Cuz the Clown." A veteran of the U.S. Army and member of Gastonia Masonic Lodge #369 AF & AM. Wayne loved his family dearly and was so proud of his boys.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Norma Jean Justus Sosebee; sons and daughters-in-law, Alan Wayne Sosebee and Stephanie Webster of Rock Hill, SC, and Todd Lamar Sosebee and Wendy Johnson Sosebee of Gastonia; grandchildren, Caroline, Peyton, Alison, Isaac and Caleb; half-brother, James Blaire Sosebee and wife, Brenda of Gastonia.

The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.

Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park with Masonic Rites and Military Rites presented by the Gaston County World War II Last Man Club.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

We remember well first meeting you and Wayne. The warmth of Christian love exuded from the two of you. What a blessing from our heavenly Father that He saw fit for us to be touched by you! We will always cherish Wayne in our hearts and continue to remember you in our prayers. May you find peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior, knowing that Wayne is with Him and basking in His worship. There is no way we can begin to comprend the marvel of being in His presence.

Jean so sorry to learn of Wayne's death. He was such a delight to others and we still remember the family reunion and all the fun everyone had. He sure had everyone enjoying themselves.

Jean and boys. So sorry for your loss. We are all better by knowing Wayne. He brought so many smiles to so many people. He is resting now and enjoying the fruits of his labors here on earth in heaven with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
