BELMONT - Coyte Calvin Lingerfelt, 88, passed away Nov. 1, 2013, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

A native of Gaston County, he was a son of the late John Dewey Lingerfelt Sr. and Beulah Roper Lingerfelt.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Frances Yount Lingerfelt; brothers, J.D. Lingerfelt, Jr., Torrence Lingerfelt and Paul Lingerfelt.
He was a man of great faith and a true gentleman. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korea and worked with Duke Power as an accountant. He was a former member of First Baptist Church and attended Belmont Foursquare Church.
Coyte is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 24 years, Margaret Wentz Lingerfelt; daughters, Kathy Paige and husband Kenneth of Jeffer-son, Sharon Worley of West Jefferson, Karen McCuen and husband Allen of Belmont; sons, Jered Ferguson and wife Anna of Greensboro, Mike Ferguson and wife Sheila of Mt. Holly; brothers, Mason Lingerfelt and wife Marie of Belmont, Truitt Lingerfelt and wife Peggy of Belmont, Don Lingerfelt and wife Bradine of Mt. Holly; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Belmont Foursquare Church with Pastor Kevin Ford and Bishop Roger Wentz officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Burial, with Military Rites presented by the Gaston County Honor Guard, will be in Gaston Memorial Park.
