RANLO - Earl "Crossroads" Jenkins Day, 77, passed away peacefully at home on Nov. 18, 2012.

He was born in Gaston County to the late William "Bill" and Pearl Watts Day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law, Joe Bumgarner; nephew, Marty Bumgarner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, D.C. and Alice Houser.
Earl graduated from Lowell High School in 1953. He was a US Army veteran. He and his dad operated the Ranlo Union 76 Station for 53 years. A member of Ranlo Baptist Church, he served as past Deacon, choir member and church treasurer. Earl was the first Fire Chief in Ranlo in 1970. He was Past Master at the Lowell Lodge #590 at age 28, the youngest to ever hold this position, and was a member for 56 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Peggy Houser Day; daughter, Kandice D. Jennings; granddaughter, Brittany Michelle Jennings and fi-nance` Kenneth Bingham; godson, Geoff McBryde; beloved sister, Rachel D. Bumgarner; nephews, Joe Bumgarner Jr., Chad Bumgarner and Marcus Jones and sister-in-law, Alene Jones and husband Ken.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ranlo Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ranlo Baptist Church with the Rev. Matt Thomas officiating.
Interment will be in Gaston Memorial Park with full Masonic Rites rendered by Lowell Masonic Lodge #590.
