RANLO - Floyd "Bill" Brooks Sr., 83, passed away, June 30, 2013, at the Robin Johnson House, Dallas.

He was born February 22, 1930 in Gaston County, son of the late Barnett B. and Almeada Sprinkle Brooks. He was a member of Gospel Light Holiness Church, Gastonia. Mr. Brooks was retired from the US Army, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retirement he was a mem-ber of the 31st. Infantry Regiment Association and The WWII Last Man Club.

A celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gospel Light Holiness Church, officiated by Pastors Jerry Willard, Buck Whitted and Ernest Brooks.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia with full military honors.

He is survived by: his loving wife of nine months, Shirley Brooks; sons, Billy Brooks, Danny Brooks and Kathleen, David S. Brooks and Marilyn, Richard Brooks; daughters, Deborah Langford and Van, Bobbie Bradley, Margaret Beaty and Michael, Jo Ann Brooks; step-sons, Keith McGlamery and Deana, Michael McGlamery and April; step-daughters, Tammy Rogers and Joe, Judy Gibson and Henry, Donna Hargrove and Michael, Angela Williams; brothers, David D. Brooks and Betty, Ernest Brooks and Jo Anne; a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: the mother of his children, Barbara Bradley Brooks; daughter, Rhonda Kay Holland; grandson, Joseph Michael Brooks; brother, Roland Brooks; sister, Margaret Pruitt.

Arrangements are with the South Chapel of Greene Funeral Service and Crematorium, Gastonia.
