GASTONIA - Forrest Edward Hall, 94, of Gastonia, passed away on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

He was born in Gastonia on May 2, 1919 and was the son of the late Andrew Harrison and Cora Brooks Hall.
Mr. Hall was a veteran of the U. S. Army during WWII. He served with the 8th Infantry where he received 4 Bronze Stars from the Normandy Invasion, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded EAMET and American Defense Medals. He was a retired construction worker.
Mr. Hall is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lois Rowland Hall; two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Roger Carpenter of Grays Chapel, North Carolina, Janice and Henry Shue of Huntersville; grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law, Lisa Carpenter Jennings and John Jennings of Pitts-boro, Andrea Leigh Dixon of Atlanta, Jonathan Forrest Dixon of Huntersville, Alexandra Kathleen Shue of Charlotte; great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, Jamison Holt Moore, Owen Kingsley Moore, Colin Kipp Jennings, Andrew Feran Jennings of Pittsboro.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park with Military Rites by the Gaston County Honor Guard.
Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ethel Van Dyke, Ruby Wilkinson; three brothers, Ray Hall, Howard Hall, Allen Hall.
