GASTONIA - James Edward "Ted" Lewis, 88, died peacefully on June 19, 2014 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center.

A native of Newport, Tenn., he was the son of the late James and Ola Miller Lewis.

Ted was a US Navy Veteran, who served during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a member of Arm-strong Memorial Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and elder and most recently a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was a good and faithful serv-ant.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gas-tonia.

A graveside service will follow at noon at Gaston Memorial Park with Pastor Dan Oedy officiating.

Military rites will be performed by Gaston County Honor Guard.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Margaret "Peggy" Lewis; daughters, Kathy Lewis Morrow and husband David of Gastonia, Debbie Lewis Hogan and husband, Bob of Cornelius; grandchildren, Josh Morrow and wife, Brooke, Matthew Morrow, Andrew Morrow and wife, Tiffany, Summer Hogan, Kristen Davis and husband, James; great grandchildren, Madison Morrow, Jonathan Morrow, Matthew Morrow, Jr., Liam Hogan and Rowan Davis; brother, A.R. Lewis and wife Dula of Ranlo; sister, Margie Caldwell of N. Myrtle Beach, SC; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jonathan Morrow, brother, Ga-briel Lewis and sister, Laura Deviney.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church, 1401 Hoffman Rd., Gastonia, NC 28054.
