CLOVER, S.C. - James Donald Westmoreland went Home to be with the Lord peacefully on May 16, 2013, while surrounded by his family.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jim will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Clover Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends immediately following the services in the Fellowship Hall at the church. The family will be at Jim's home in the afternoons. A private family burial will be held prior to the service at Woodside Service.

Jim was born in Clover, S.C on Jan. 25, 1927. He was the son of the late Douglas A Westmoreland and Edna Eaker Westmoreland. He at-tended Auburn University. He served in the US Army during WWII in the Philippines and Japan. He was with the first troops that went in to Hiroshima after the US occupied Japan. He also served as a trustee and Chairman of York General Hospital, Chairman of Clover Medical Facili-ties Commission during the building of the Ernest A Perry Medical Building, Commissioner with SC Housing Authority. Jim was a founder and builder of Clover Christian Fellowship. He was a member of Clover Presbyterian Church where he had served as Sunday School Teacher, Dea-con, and Elder. He founded Westmoreland Construction Co in 1958 where he built, remodeled and sold more than 300 homes in the Clover area. He loved working with people and helping them get into a home. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He met Willie Shealy at a Junior Carnival and married her in 1952. They were married 60 years. Willie worked with Jim in his businesses, Westmoreland Const and Clover Builders Supply. They opened and operated Clover Builders Supply in 1969 until they sold in 1985.

He is survived by his children, Don and Kay Westmoreland, Jane and Tommy McCall, Sara and Billy Turner, David and Ange' Westmoreland; grandchildren, Jamie Westmoreland, Lane and Carr Bennett, Christopher McCall, Tommy Jr. and Suzanne McCall, Will and Elaine Turner, Char-ity and Buck Hughes, Cameron and Matt Burris, and Great Grandchildren, Carly and Preston Bennett, Stewart and Ben McCall, Emma and An-sley Turner; Special Friend and Caregiver, Pat Gunn; his sister, Charlotte Barnett, brothers and sister-in-laws Bob and Elsie Westmoreland, Ted and Margaret Westmoreland, Mary Westmoreland, and Betty Westmoreland, brother-in-laws and sister-in laws, James B. and Mary Ann Shealy, Robert W. and Carolus Shealy, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Willie Shealy Westmoreland; brother and sister-in-law, D.A. and Geri Westmoreland; brothers, Bill Westmoreland, Jack Westmoreland; sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Avery Adkins; sister-in-law Pratt H. Westmoreland; brother-in-law James Barnett.
