BELMONT - Pruett L. Black, 81, died peacefully with his family by his side on Nov. 6, 2013, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

A native of Mt. Holly, he was the son of the late, Pruett L. Black Sr. and Pansy Fortner Black Cashion.
Pruett was a US Army Veteran, a member of the Oasis Shrine Club of Charlotte, Belmont Moose Lodge and Belmont American Legion Post 144. He was a national sales award winner in office equipment. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
A funeral service will be held noon Monday at McLean Funeral Directors of Belmont Bumgardner Chapel with the Rev. Sydnor Thompson of-ficiating.
Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte.
The family will receive friends 11 a.m. to noon prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include his sons, Pruett L. Black, III and wife, Teresa of Cherryville, Walter Black and wife, Sabra of Acworth, Ga.; daughters, Carmen Wilmer and husband, Jim of Stokesdale; Kim Cuthbertson and husband, Mickey of Gastonia; Wanda Curtis and husband, Richard of High Point, Wendy Holland and husband, Cliff of Stanley; grandchildren, Elanie Wilmer, Pruett Black, IV, Maia Black, Brant Black, Carter Black, Garrison Black, Audrey Curtis, Kit Curtis and Jackson Holland; great grandchild, Cooper Seabolt; brother Gilbert Cashion; sisters, Marsha Buff, Brenda Wellmon, Betty Brown-Sides and Penny Berry all of Charlotte; numerous nieces and nephews.
