STANLEY - William Dennis Jones, 87, 308 Taylor Drive, died March 3, 2013.

Mr. Jones was born May 27, 1925, in Kings Mountain, son of the late James R. Jones Sr. and Ina White Jones.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Morris and a brother J.R. Jones Jr.

He was saved at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and later moved to Temple Baptist Church in Gastonia in the 1950s.
He was currently a member of New Life Baptist Church in Stanley. He served our Country during World War II with the US Navy for 2 years, 9 months, 6 days, and 3 minutes. He was a member of the World War II Gaston County Last Man Club, and member of the Stanley Masonic Lodge #266, A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include his wife Emma Steele Jones, three daughters Marie Pittman of Gastonia, Debra Cameron of Greenville, SC, Sue Leagon of Stanley; two sons Dennis Jones and wife Colleen of Waxhaw, Bill Jones and wife Tara of Jacksonville; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his beloved pets, Precious and Little Bit.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Jones will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Life Baptist Church in Stanley with the Rev. Bo Osborne officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the Gaston County Honor Guard.

Woodlawn Funeral Home of Mt Holly is in charge of arrangements.
