GASTONIA - The Rev. William "Harold" Meeks, 84, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 16, 2013, surrounded by his family at CaroMont Re-gional Medical Center.

He was a native of Hall County, Ga., son of the late Bartley Britton Sr. and Mazie McEntyre Meeks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Gene Meeks, James "Jimmy" Meeks, Bartley Meeks Jr. and sisters, Lillian Wil-liams, Betty Sherrill and Loretta Chavis.
Harold was a retired minister serving churches in North and South Carolina for over thirty five years. He was a member of Salem
Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of sixty one years, Mildred Queen Meeks; son, Jeffery Meeks and fiancée Michelle; daughter, Bev-erly Sparks and husband Ken; brother, Rev. Bobby Meeks; sisters, Bessie Cooper, Brenda Brooks and special grandson, Josh Sparks and wife BethAnn.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 p.m. Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors with the Rev. Junior Morris officiating.
Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
