MOUNT HOLLY - Allan Filmore Craig, 83, passed away Jan. 16, 2012.

He was born Oct. 11, 1929, in Gaston County, to the late Albert and Edna Rankin Craig.

Allan retired after 36 years of service in Mt. Holly Schools as teacher, assistant principal and principal. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church in Mt. Holly and served in many areas at the church.
Allan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Craig of Mount Holly; three daughters, Julie Yarnell of Chapel Hill, Ann Skidmore (Kevin) of Mooresville and Lynn Gregory (Robert) of Apex; eight grandchildren, Michael, Caroline, Matthew and Jonathan Yarnell, Doug and Chris Skidmore, Margaret and Frank Gregory; two sisters, Nancy Bryant of Huntersville and Ruth Cauble of Gastonia.

Allan was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

A celebration of his life will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Mount Holly. The Rev. Kendall Cameron will officiate.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 S. Main, Mt. Holly NC 28120.
