GASTONIA - Angeline Brooks Tate, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018.

Born on February 9, 1927 in Pickens County, SC, Mrs. Tate was the daughter of the late Joseph Henry Brooks and Leila Collins Brooks.

Mrs. Tate retired from Firestone after many years of faithful service. She was a longstanding member of Chapel Grove Baptist Church where she was active in the children's nursery and for many years baked communion bread. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan who enjoyed working in her garden, cooking and watching Court TV.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tate was preceded in death by her husband, Walter P. Tate; brothers, Heyward, Earl, Charles and Melvin Brooks.

Mrs. Tate is survived by her sisters, Bobbie Kelley, Joanne Pelfrey, Leona Bradham, Janet Angel and Donna Mosley (Larry); god-daughter, Lora High; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins including a special nephew, Bill Tate.

Family and friends of Mrs. Tate are invited to attend her visitation beginning at 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with her funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. in Founders Chapel. The Rev. Roger Overton and the Rev. Gregory Kelley will officiate.

Entombment will follow at Gaston Memorial Park Mausoleum.
