BELMONT - Bette Brantley Pettus Armstrong, 90, passed away May 12, 2018 at Kings Mountain Hospice.

She was born November 15, 1927, a daughter of the late John Everette Brantley and Eloise Crowell Brantley.

Bette graduated from Central High School in 1945. She married John Thomas Pettus in 1948, who died in 1978. In 1987 she married Charles Rankin Armstrong, who died in 2001. She is survived by one son, Everette Dallas Pettus and Revonda Cobb of Kings Mountain; brother, Charles Everette Brantley and wife Judy and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her step children, Nancy Turner and husband Del, Jasper Armstrong and wife Teresa; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren

Mrs. Armstrong was a member of First United Methodist Church, Belmont and Order of the Eastern Star, Steel Creek Chapter 339. She retired from Western Union and US Airways. Bette's love for Beagle dogs was known throughout the country. She was an active member of Tuckasegee Beagle Club.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The committal service will begin at 4pm at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Fort Mill, SC.
