Betty Sosebee

GASTONIA - Betty Colette Dimeo Sosebee, 80, formerly of Carillon Assisted Living, died Jan. 5, 2011, at Robin Johnson Hospice House.

A native of Gaston County, Mrs. Sosebee was the daughter of the late William Franklin and Eva McAllister Helton.
Betty worked in sales for many years, first in the shoe department with Matthew's Belk and later retiring from Lowe's. She was a lifetime member of Loray Baptist Church, was an avid seamstress, enjoyed working in her yard and traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff and volunteers at Robin Johnson House for their loving care of Betty.

Survivors of Mrs. Sosebee include her children and spouses, Janet and Gary Mitchell; Judy Pence and fiancé Barry Berlant; Jeff and Janet Dimeo; step-children and spouses, David W. and Donna Sosebee of Gastonia; Pam S. and Jerry Ellis of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Josh and Jody Carr, all of Gas-tonia; step-grandchildren, David L. Sosebee, Danielle Sosebee, both of Gastonia; Josh Ellis of Kings Mountain; brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Betty Jean Helton of Norfolk, VA; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Johnny Dimeo and husband of ten years, David Sosebee, and by six brothers and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday in the Founders Chapel of McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia with Dr. Kent Cranford officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park.
