BELMONT - Boyce Jackson "Jack" Lear Sr., age 93, formerly of Belmont, passed away July 9, 2018 at Robin Johnson Hospice House. He was born February 3, 1925 in Richmond County, a son of the late William Franklin and Leona Linebarrier Lear.

Jack served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired from Duke Power. He cherished his family & the times spent together with them. He was a man of great faith and loved to share the gospel with everyone he met.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Boyce J. Lear, Jr. and Cindy of Gastonia, Pamela Alley and James of Seagrove, NC, Rebecca Waters and Allen of Belmont; brothers, Bobby, Ted, Harold and Wayne Lear; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Max, William and Curtis Lear; sisters, Martha Liner, Audrey Alexander and Gladys Grass.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 pm, Wednesday at McLean Funeral Directors, Belmont. A graveside service will be held at 11 am, Thursday at Evergreen - "A Quiet Place" with Rev. Glenn Huelsman officiating.

A very special thank you to the staff & volunteers at Terrace Ridge Assisted Living for providing exceptional care during the last year of his life. Also, thank you to the staff & volunteers at Robin Johnson House for their tender care of Jack & his family during the last week of his earthly life.
