DALLAS -- Carolyn Jane Weaver Blankenship, 79, passed away on Saturday, April 27.

Born in Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late James Ambers Weaver and Bessie Callaway Weaver.
Mrs. Blankenship was a graduate of Ashley High School and a longstanding member of Flint Groves Baptist Church. She retired from the Gaston County Schools after many years of service as a food services manager. She was a hard working woman who loved her family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Blankenship was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Blankenship; son, Joel Robert Blankenship; grandson, Justin Alan Sipe; a brother and two sisters.
Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Alan Sipe of Garden City, S.C., and Terry and Kim Wentz of Dallas; grandchildren and spouses, Stephanie Conner, Michelle and Andy Christenson, and Lyndsi and Kevin Boye; great-grandchildren, Dalton and Pre-ston Conner, Kade and Kammy Christenson, Lani and Kohen Boye, and Logan Crisp; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Lucille Weaver of Gas-tonia; sisters, Nell Whitesides of Gastonia, Helen Davis of Stanley, Gloria Moore of Manila, Ark. and Linda Corbett of Winston-Salem.
Family and friends of Carolyn Blankenship are invited to attend her funeral service beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from the graveside at Gaston Memorial Park. Rev. Ronnie Bowers will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, immediately prior to the service, at McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia.
